Medication alone is useless to a patient suffering from hoarding. The reason medication alone isn’t effective is because hoarders have unstructured days and erratic sleep/wake cycles. Due to these unstructured days, hoarders often forget to take their medication, run out of medications and don’t renew, lose the bottles, take the medication at inappropriate times, or take too much of the prescription. ( Saxena, 2004) Medication is prescribed for patients when they are undergoing other treatment options along with regular observation. Some of the most common forms for medication that are prescribed for hoarding are:

·         Luvox

·         Prozac

·         Paxil

·         Zoloft
