Cognitive-behavioral Therapy (CBT) is defined as a psychotherapeutic approach that aims to teach the person new skills on how to solve problems concerning dysfunctional emotions, behaviors, and cognitions through a goal-oriented, systematic procedure. The title is used in diverse ways to designate behavior therapy, cognitive therapy, and to refer to therapy based upon a combination of basic behavioral and cognitive research.
A CBT treatment for hoarders focus on a few things;
· Decreasing clutter
· Improving decision making
· Organization skills
· Strengthening resistance to urges to save
A CBT treatment could include all of the following:
· Exposure and response prevention therapy
· Excavation of saved material
· Decision-making training
· Cognitive restructuring
CBT is a very long treatment ranging from 9 months to several years depending on the case.
Intensive Multimodal treatment. The combination of
aggressive ??? phartreatment with daily CBT and psychosocial rehabilitation in
controlled settings or area. These
combinations can include regular in office visits or home visits. Office visits usually occur
when the patient lives too far away. There are four main areas that are focused
